(1) First you have to check compass calibration

  • Go to the iPhone Settings app.
  • Tap on Privacy & Security option.
  • Now tap on Location Services.
  • Scroll down till you find System Services. Tap on it.
  • Turn on the Compass Calibration toggle. Now iPhone compass is auto-calibrated all of the time.

(2) Turn on the Precise Location all of the time to enable high-accuracy mode

  • Go to the iPhone Settings app.
  • Tap on Privacy & Security option.
  • Now tap on Location Services.
  • Scroll down till you find the app Google Maps.
  • Under ALLOW LOCATION ACCESS you have to tap on Always.
  • Turn on the Precise Location toggle. Now your iPhone’s Google Maps can access precise locations all of the time.

Calibrate Google Map Pointing Wrong Direction on Androids

Here it is necessary to see that there is no issue of direction accuracy. Let’s see.

(1) First, check any direction accuracy issue in Google Maps

In order to solve Google Maps pointing in the wrong direction, make sure the location of the Android device should be turned on. Now follow the following steps.

1- To open Maps, Tap on its icon on your phone.

2- Tap on the Search bar (the top of the screen) and enter any destination.

3- Now tap on Direction.

5- You see a box mentioning “Tilt and move your device Compass accuracy: low. Tilt and move your device 3-4 times as shown in a figure till it will change the Compass accuracy to medium or high.

6- If medium, again tilt and move your device 3-4 times till it shows high. If not, you have to recalibrate the GPS of your phone again.  

(2) Recalibrate the GPS of your Android device

1- Maps pointing in the wrong direction. To solve this, go to your directions page, and tap on your location icon.

2- Tap on the Calibrate.

3- Tilt and move your device 3-4 times as shown in a figure and stop when it changes the Compass accuracy from medium to high.

4- Tap on Done. This process will again calibrate the GPS of your Android device.

(3) After recalibrating, enable improved accuracy on your Android device

  • Tap on the Settings app on your Android device.
  • Tap on Location.
  • Again, tap on Location services.
  • Turn on Wi-Fi scanning and Bluetooth scanning toggles.
  • You have to back again to the Location.
  • Tap on the App permissions.
  • Scroll down and tap on Maps.
  • Tap on the radio button Allow all the time.
  • Turn on Use precise location.

We know that Google Maps is the best option to find the location. Sometimes Google Maps pointing in the wrong direction. For maps to point in the right direction, we have to calibrate and recalibrate the GPS of the Android device with the process mentioned above.
