Now-a-days a new way of scamming has come and many people are easily falling in its trap. The name of this new method is “Call Forwarding Scam”. Scammers are fooling people by confusing them in different ways, so you need to be alert from this scam. Let’s know about it in detail.
How Call Forwarding Scam Works?
In Call forwarding scam, scammers call you as a government employee or a mobile operator or as a customer support executive of a mobile company. They will talk in such a way that you will immediately believe that a genuine person is actually talking to you. They will tell you that your account has been hacked or will say that there is a problem with your sim.
Hearing this will shock you, and you will begin to ask them why it happened. Then they will tell you that the company has updated the new software, because of this it has happened and they will correct it by providing you the solution on the phone itself. Then they will ask you to dial a number starting with 401 or **21*. If you come in their words and do so, then your call will be forwarded to any of their numbers.
Impact When You Do So
As soon as they get access, they will turn on 2FA on your account so that you cannot access your account easily again. Then they will easily start trying to hack your bank account by login and keep trying until your account becomes empty. Then they will transfer all that money from your bank account to any of their accounts. And by the time you get access to your account again, it will be too late.
