Whenever we think about artificial intelligence, always comes in mind ChatGPT. We all know the ChatGPT evolution gave oxygen in the area of artificial intelligence. There is a lot more to happen in the field of artificial intelligence. Creating image from text has already become easy because of DALL-E2. Going ahead of that we can say that Text-to-video could be the upcoming breakthrough in AI technology.
Text-to-Video AI
Text-to-video AI is such a technology through which we can create video from any written text by you. Using natural language processing and computer vision algorithms, Text-to-video AI interprets your written word in its own language and easily transforms it into a visual representation. Many applications of this technology are already running in some form or the other in many fields (marketing, education, entertainment etc.).
Text-to-video can be used in product demo, can be used in news reporting, can also be used in making educational videos and can be done in many other fields. Text-to-video AI has enormous potential to revolutionize the way content is created, making it much faster and more efficient, while also providing users with a new level of accessibility and interactivity. That’s why we can say text-to-video could be the upcoming breakthrough in AI technology.
Runway’s Gen 1 and Gen 2 Model
During its recent showcase, a US-based startup Runway introduced its new generative video model Gen-2, which can accomplish text-to-video tasks with some limitations. So, it is true that Text-to-video could be the upcoming breakthrough in AI technology.
Gen-1 generative video model only focussed on transforming rough video footage or rough 3D animation or shaky mobile clip. User need to input rough footage and need to apply an AI-generated overlay. See below tweet for example where footage of cardboard packaging converted in image of an industrial factory.

See for example the tweet below where footage of cardboard packaging is morphed into an image of an industrial factory.
Gen 2 is the next big step and is more focused than Gen 1. As per the report, Gen-2 users will need to sign up to be on the waiting list through Runway’s Discord. The upcoming Gen-2 is expected to be a significant development that will enable users to create 3-second videos entirely from native text prompts.
Text-to-video could be upcoming AI technology But Google and Meta not involved in text-to-video
Big companies like Meta and Google are yet silent on this Text-to-Video generators. Last year Meta showcased a tool “Make-A-Video” which convert few words or few lines of text into videos (without sound) using generative AI. On this (without sound video) CEO Mark Zuckerberg said “generating video from texts is harder than generating image from texts because in addition to accurately creating each pixel, the system must also anticipate how the pixels will alter over time”.
Google also announced its similar generative AI model Image Video. Imagen Video produces high-definition video with the provided text prompts. According to Google, they generate HD video using a base video generation model and a sequence of interleaved spatial and temporal video super-resolution models. Another Google model, Phenki also create longer videos from text input.
Text-to-video could be upcoming AI technology With Challenges
- Need to incredibly precise with commands.
- Any one can generate fake news very easily.
- Lack for good datasets.
- High computing costs.
- May transition to become a mainstream method in the future.
Conclusion
Text-to-video could be the upcoming breakthrough in AI technology. It has to go through a lot of research as well as a long way to go, yet this new technology is expecting to have a lot of scope in the future. Nonetheless, the progress made in this area is promising and this technology could open up exciting new possibilities in the future.
